Use of Generative AI

The Global Journal of Dental Specialty (GJDS) recognizes the growing use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in research and scholarly writing. The journal supports the responsible and transparent use of AI technologies in accordance with the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and evolving international publishing standards. AI tools may be used to assist with language improvement, grammar, formatting, or manuscript preparation but must not replace human authorship or scientific responsibility.

Authors using AI tools should:

  • Disclose the use of Generative AI in the manuscript where appropriate.

  • Verify the accuracy and reliability of AI-generated content.

  • Ensure that all information, citations, and data are accurate.

  • Accept full responsibility for the content of the manuscript.

Authorship and Accountability

Generative AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot meet the authorship criteria established by ICMJE. Only human authors who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research and manuscript are eligible for authorship and remain fully accountable for the integrity, originality, and accuracy of the published work.

Editorial Responsibility

The Editorial Office reserves the right to request clarification regarding the use of Generative AI during the editorial or peer-review process. Undisclosed or inappropriate use of AI that results in plagiarism, fabricated information, manipulated images, inaccurate citations, or other forms of publication misconduct may result in manuscript rejection, correction, or retraction in accordance with the recommendations of COPE and ICMJE.
